About Me

I graduated as a Professional Counsellor with a Masters Degree in 2012 and have been practicing counselling both in the public and private sector since then.

I specialize in working with clients both as individuals and couples going through problems of living, difficult life transitions and overwhelming experiences that impact their quality of life.

With individuals, I work on self-development, depression, anxiety, and personal life transitions. With couples, I work with inter-relationship conflict and life-transitions. I work with individuals in the exploration of authentic selves and brainstorm with clients’ ways to achieve a satisfying and meaningful life. I find joy working with couples as they navigate through their relationship, finding their own methods of how their relationship works. In a collaborative way, I work with my clients to establish ways that strengthen their abilities to communicate both their feelings and intentions to one another in a constructive, loving and kind manner.

I also enjoy working with multi-stressed families in the community. A job that gives me great opportunity to work with families who have been in disadvantaged family systems (sexual/mental/physical abuse, addictions, mental health problems and poverty) since childhood and as adults, they try to break their dysfunctional generational family patterns and create better lives for themselves and their children.

My main therapeutic approach is integrative with a focus on empowerment and self-exploration to find meaning. Integrative counselling is the blending of relevant theory and interventions formed to suit the needs of my clients.  Integrating various approaches to counselling, in addition to my background in psychology, anthropology and sociology, allows me to be more flexible in terms of adopting a therapeutic approach to each unique client. I believe that a safe, non-judgmental environment enables clients to process past and present situations that are impeding their quality of life, digest the accompanying emotions, and brainstorm the best way forward towards a life that works for them.
